Ultimaker 2 Extended is a FDM (fused deposition modeling) 3D printer of the department located in the computer room.
Security and rules of use
- Do NOT touch the nozzle or printing bed suface during heating and 3D printing
- Do not load incompatible materials
- Do not put your fingers on the bed (finger grease reduces adhesion of the thread)
- Remember to remove prints
- Keep the interior clean from dust and thread deposite
Preparing the 3D model
- Prepare a 3D model with an adapted software (Blender, Rinoceros...)
- Verify that the model have no hole or unattached free vertices
- export your model and import it in a slicer (Cura for example)
- Verify that the object is stuck to the base, add supports to angles greater than 90°, adjust the infill and support options
Starting the printing
- Export as Gcode on the SD card, if everything is okay the file will appear on the selection list
- Go to "print" and select the file
- Watch at launch that the thread go out and stick to the bed
- Adjust the temperature if needed
Changing the thread
Only use PLA/ABS from 2.85 to 0.4mm
- Go to "change material"
- Eject the current thread
- Change the roller at the back of the machine
- Load the thread in the machine and wait for it to go out of the nozzle
